What should you do for your video?

We want your videos to be creative and unique, just like the workbooks. If you’re completely lost, here is a sample video from the 2010 competition that may give you a little inspiration. Don’t try to make your video exactly the same…just get inspired and have fun with yours!

All Delo Tractor Restoration Competition participants are required to submit a short (2-3 minutes) video of their restoration project. The videos are a great way for us to see more of the fun side of each project and get to know the participants’ personalities.

Delo Tractor Restoration Competition videos should include the following:

Video Camera
  • A 360 degree walk around of the finished tractor so the judges can see the restoration from all angles
  • The tractor being started from the driver’s seat
  • Operating the tractor in forward (through the gears) and reverse
  • Operation of PTO, brakes, hydraulics, three-point hitch, etc.
  • Show functioning gauges

Besides these critical elements, participants are free to incorporate any other material they want – and as much personality as possible.

The ideal video is no more than 3 minutes.

  • 2010 Champion Video, Eufaula FFA, Eufaula, AL

Don’t worry if you don’t have the most high-tech video camera. Your submission won’t be judged on video quality or any other technology-related aspect. Even videos shot using the video mode on your digital camera will work. If you do not already have video- editing software on your computer, here are a couple suggestions:
Mac users: Apple iMovie
PC users: Microsoft Windows Movie Maker

Above all, we want participants to have fun with these videos. Feel free to play around with adding music and other effects. We can provide Delo® logos and product artwork, but use of these materials is not mandatory.

You can still submit a video even if you have already begun your restoration. Simply use still photos in the video. However, we would like you to incorporate some moving video or audio of the tractor running, so we can see that it really does purr like a kitten!

Your video should be submitted on a CD or DVD along with your completed workbook by August 29, 2011. If you are chosen as a finalist, you are welcome to incorporate the video into your oral presentation at the national FFA convention, but please note that the judges will have already viewed the video.

Take a look at the video to the right which was submitted in 2010.
